Terms of Use

Last updated 8 October 2026

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Nawacode Est., the maker of Penline. By creating an account or using Penline, you agree to them.

They cover the Penline apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, the website at penline.app, and our support. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of these terms.

If you download Penline from the App Store or Google Play, that store's own terms also apply to your download and purchases.

Your account

Your content

You own what you put in Penline. Your notes, tasks, expenses, PDFs and files stay yours. We claim no rights over them.

You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store, copy and transmit your encrypted data so it syncs across your devices and to the people you choose to share with. This permission ends when your content is deleted.

Your content is end-to-end encrypted, so we cannot read, check or moderate it. That also means:

Acceptable use

Use Penline lawfully and fairly. You must not:

If we have good reason to believe you are breaking these rules, we may suspend or close your account (see "Ending your account").

Reporting illegal content

Your content is end-to-end encrypted, so we cannot see it and do not scan it. We rely on reports, and we act on every one.

How to report. Email support@penline.app with the subject "Report". Tell us what you saw, the username or group involved, and when. If something was shared with you, you can include it, since you can already read it. Do not send us child sexual abuse material itself; describe it and we will tell you what to do.

What we do:

  1. We confirm we received your report within 5 working days.
  2. We review it and may ask you for more detail.
  3. If it is credible, we suspend the account involved and preserve its records, which do not include readable content.
  4. Where the law requires it, we report to the authorities, including reports of child sexual abuse material to the relevant body (such as NCMEC in the United States).
  5. We tell you the outcome, unless the law or an investigation prevents it.

If your account is suspended, we will tell you why where it is safe and lawful, and you can ask us to review the decision by emailing support@penline.app.

Requests from authorities. We respond to valid legal requests. Because of end-to-end encryption, we can provide only account details and encrypted data, never readable content.

Plans and payments

Penline has a free plan and a paid one. Encryption, sync across your devices, and recovery are free on both.

Prices may differ by country and currency; the price shown in the app store at checkout is the one that applies. The features in each plan are described in the app.

Sharing with others

You can share some things with other Penline users, such as a shared expense group. Shared items stay end-to-end encrypted, readable only by the people in them.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Penline running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Penline works offline, and changes you make sync when you reconnect.

We may improve, change or remove features over time. If a change takes away a paid feature you rely on, we will tell you in advance. We may ask you to update the app, and may stop very old versions from connecting when they are no longer safe.

Some features rely on other services, such as Apple and Google for purchases and notifications, and an exchange-rate provider for currency conversion. Those services are run by others, and their terms apply to them.

Ending your account

You can leave at any time. Delete your account in Settings → Delete account. It is scheduled for deletion and permanently erased after 30 days; until then you can sign in and cancel. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription, so cancel that in your App Store or Google Play settings.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other users or the service. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.

If we ever stop offering Penline, we will give you at least 60 days' notice so you can export your data.

Disclaimers and liability

Penline is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms.

Penline is a tool for your own records. Expense totals, currency conversions, receipt scans and reminders may contain errors, so do not rely on them alone for financial, tax, legal or medical decisions.

To the extent the law allows:

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights your local law gives you.

Who we are

Penline is made by Nawacode Est., an establishment registered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.

If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For meaningful changes, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using Penline after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
